Due to the natural properties of rubber, the physical properties and performance levels of all rubber products will change over time. These changes typically occur depending on the type of rubber used, but can also be accelerated by a combination of factors. The other materials used to reinforce the rubber water hose pipe may also be negatively affected by improper storage conditions. The following recommendations include a series of preventive measures to minimize aging during storage.
A rotation system should be implemented to minimize the storage time of the rubber water hose pipe. If long-term storage cannot be avoided and the following suggestions cannot be fully adhered to, the rubber water hose pipe should be thoroughly inspected before use.
The storage of the rubber water hose pipe must avoid mechanical stress, including excessive stretching, compression, or deformation, and should avoid contact with sharp or pointed objects. The rubber water hose pipe should ideally be stored on suitable racks or placed on dry ground. Coiled rubber water hose pipe must be stored horizontally, and stacking of rubber water hose pipes should be avoided. If stacking is unavoidable, the stacking height should not cause permanent deformation of the hose pipe at the bottom. As a general rule, it is best to avoid hanging the rubber water hose pipe on posts or hooks. If the rubber water hose pipe is delivered as a straight hose, it is recommended to store it horizontally without bending.
The rubber water hose pipe should not come into contact with solvents, fuels, oils, fats, unstable chemicals, acids, disinfectants, or general organic liquids. Additionally, any type of rubber can be damaged by contact with certain materials or mixtures, including manganese, iron, copper, and their alloys. The rubber water hose pipe should be kept away from contact with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or wood or cloth impregnated with contaminated oils.
Recommended storage temperature: between 10°C and 25°C. Note: The rubber water hose pipe should not be stored in temperatures above 40°C or below 0°C. Special caution should be taken when moving the rubber water hose pipe at temperatures below -15°C. The rubber water hose pipe should not be stored near heat sources, and the relative humidity should not exceed 65%.
