What Are the Uses of PVC Hose Pipe?

The hose pipe is mainly used as a protective tube for wires, cables, automation instrument signals and civilian shower hoses, with specifications ranging from 3mm to 150mm. Small diameter hoses (inner diameter 3mm to 25mm) are mainly used for the protection of sensing circuits for precision optical scales and industrial sensors. Hoses are mainly divided into threading hoses, drainage hoses, ventilation hoses, shower hoses, and wiring harness tubes according to their uses. Hoses are mainly divided into stainless steel hoses, metal hoses, bellows hoses, rubber hoses, and plastic hoses according to their materials.

The popularity of PVC

PVC is used in waterproof substrates and various products such as golf balls. It was during World War II that PVC really took off as a result of a shortage of rubber in the United States. The outbreak of World War II effectively cut off the supply of almost all natural rubber in the world to the United States. At that time, the United States had a rubber inventory of about 1 million tons. However, with an annual consumption of 600,000 tons, it was unable to enter the supply chain during the war, causing a perfect storm.

This elevated the position of PVC, as it became a substitute for all wire installations on US military ships. After World War II, the use of PVC has been increasing every year--now it is almost the main component of every industry. In particular, PVC hose pipes became very popular in the early 1960s and were used in agriculture, manufacturing, and other industries. Today, it is used in many household products, such as garden hoses and refrigerators.

The use of PVC hose pipe

PVC hose pipes are made of thermoplastic polymer made by polymerizing vinyl chloride. Yes, that's it. It’s just a lighter and more economical hose than rubber. It also contains less petroleum than other polymer materials. In many industrial and household consumer markets, PVC hose pipe have replaced rubber.

PVC is also suitable for food, irrigation, dairy, and medical applications. However, it has more uses because of its strong resistance to weathering and most chemicals. PVC hose pipes are available in heavy, medium or light duty and can be reinforced. Therefore, PVC hose pipes are needed for any application. However, PVC hose pipes also have their weaknesses. They are incompatible with certain oils, chemicals, and liquids, and over time, they can decompose and cause cracks. Fortunately, TPC also offers special oil-resistant PVC hose pipes with special linings to prevent this from happening.
