PVC Steel Wire Hose Applications and Quality Discrimination Techniques

What is a PVC steel wire hose?

A PVC steel wire hose is a type of PVC hose embedded with a steel wire framework. It is widely used in various industrial and everyday scenarios. Its inner and outer walls are transparent, smooth, and without bubbles, making the fluid status within clearly visible during transportation.

PVC steel wire hose has a high resistance to acids and alkalis, especially suitable for environments with low concentrations of acids and alkalis. It also has excellent elasticity, is not prone to aging, and has a long service life. Even in high-pressure and high-vacuum environments, a PVC steel wire hose can maintain its original shape, showcasing its excellent pressure resistance.

Applications of PVC Steel Wire Hose

According to different uses, PVC steel wire hoses can be categorized into industrial grade and food grade. Industrial grade PVC steel wire hoses are mainly used for transporting industrial water, oil, sewage, powder, and chemical raw materials, while food grade PVC steel wire hoses are widely used for transporting juice, milk, and drinking water in food factories, as well as for transporting spirits and beer in breweries.

Additionally, PVC steel wire hoses and spiral hoses are also used in the power industry for suction and discharge of water, oil, low concentration chemicals, and transportation of liquids, solid particles, and powders. Regardless of the substances being transported, the material of PVC steel wire hoses must be "non-corrosive" and "low-concentration chemicals."

How to Identify the Quality of PVC Steel Wire Hose?

  • Observe the shape and wall thickness: A high-quality PVC steel wire hose will have a uniform round shape for both the inner and outer edges, with consistent wall thickness. For instance, with an inner diameter of 89mm and a wall thickness of 7mm, a poor-quality hose might have a wall thickness ranging from 7.5mm at its thickest point to only 5.5mm at its thinnest point, making it prone to bursting or deformation under high pressure.

  • Check the wall transparency and impurities: A high-quality PVC steel wire hose should have crystal-clear walls, free of impurities and bubbles. A substandard PVC steel wire hose may appear yellowish, indicating improper handling during production or aging due to poor storage.

  • Smell test: A high-quality PVC steel wire hose should have only a slight plastic smell and no other odors, especially those of petrochemical products. Conversely, a low-quality PVC steel wire hose often has a pungent diesel smell, which is particularly noticeable in hot weather.

  • Surface smoothness: A high-quality PVC steel wire hose will have smooth inner and outer walls with a good hand feel, while a lower quality hose tends to have a rough surface.

  • Wall thickness measurement: When measuring wall thickness, cut off both ends of the PVC steel wire hose and choose the middle section as a sample for testing. This avoids deceitful practices by some manufacturers who might tamper with the ends.

  • Wire quality inspection: Cut a few centimeters of wire from both ends of the PVC steel wire hose and repeatedly fold it to test the wire's strength and toughness. Poor-quality wire is easy to break, while high-quality wire requires special tools to cut. The quality of the wire directly affects the overall quality of the PVC steel wire hose; poor quality wire can cause deformation of the hose, affecting its long-term use.

Overall, the quality of PVC steel wire hoses directly relates to their performance and longevity in use. Understanding how to distinguish between good and bad quality is crucial in ensuring that you purchase high-quality products.
